Biography

Alejandro Martínez received the Telecom Engineer BsC and PhD degrees from the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (UPV), Spain, in 2000 and 2004, respectively. His PhD Thesis was focused on passive optical devices based on two-dimensional photonic crystals. Since 2009, he is an Associate Professor at the same university. He is leading the “Plasmonic Metamaterials” research line (http://www.ntc.upv.es/english/metamaterials.html) at the Nanophotonics Technology Center (www.ntc.upv.es). He has co-authored over 100 papers in international peer-reviewed journals (h-index=22) and holds 8 patents. He has been the PI of several projects and contracts funded by some of the most important European funding agencies: 2 STREP projects (FP7), 2 contracts with ESA, and 2 contracts with EDA. Besides, he has also been the PI in 7 Spanish projects of the most competitive calls. His research interests include photonic crystals, plasmonics, nanoantennas and metamaterials and its integration into silicon photonics chips.
