I am working in a lead position in the area of satellite assembly, integration, and test. My responsibilities cover primarily software and system engineering aspects.
I did my PhD at the Dynamical Systems and Ocean Robotics Laboratory, which is part of the Institute for Systems and Robotics of the Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon, Portugal. My thesis supervisor was Prof. António M. Pascoal (IST Lisbon), and my co-advisor was Prof. John Hauser (University of Colorado at Boulder).
Despite the fact that my daily work is firmly rooted in space engineering, I enjoy robotics—my PhD research area—a lot. In fact, this might be called my hidden love, although I don’t have much time to do active research at the moment. I currently focus on applications of distributed optimization. Aside from that, I support my wife in computational methods in satellite remote sensing for forestry.
