Bruno Dalla Chiara is Associate Professor in Transport Engineering at the Politecnico di Torino, Italy, since 2005. He holds a Master of science in Mechanical Engineering, specialising in transportation engineering and economics, and a Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering, specialising in ITS. He has been a Researcher in Transport Engineering at the Politecnico di Torino since 1999 until 2004. He holds at Politecnico di Torino the courses "Engineering and design of Transport Systems ", renamed in 2012 as “Engineering and operation of Transport Systems” and has been responsible for the educational module concerning Transport Safety and Security with the Master in “Transport and Logistics: systems, Networks and Infomobility” at the COREP-Politecnico di Torino since 2003 until 2008. He is active in research work and undertakes standardisation activities. He is the author of a number of publications, mainly concerning the engineering and design of transport systems, intermodal transport and ITS.
He has been peer reviewer of the papers for the international congresses since 2001. He is member of the Editorial Board of the scientific journal IET-ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) since 2008, renewed in 2012 and in 2015. He has been vice director within the scientific committee of the review “Ingegneria Ferroviaria”, the main Italian review on railway transport and railway engineering, since 2004 until 2008 and is member of its scientific committee. He is author of a textbook in English titled “Engineering and design of railway systems” (2007, 2010, 2014) and on Transport telematics in 2010, in Italian; a more complete textbook on ITS has been republished in 2013, by a number of authors.
