Dr Tam Yat-hung joined the School of Public Health as Clinical Assistant Professor in January 2014. Dr Tam obtained his medical degree in 2001 at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He joined the Department of Health, the Government of the HKSAR, in 2002 and worked at the Tuberculosis & Chest Service, Port Health Office, Centre for Health Protection and Primary Care Office. His work mainly concentrated in communicable disease surveillance, epidemiological investigation of disease outbreak and implementation of control and preventive measures, with special interest in field epidemiology. He received his master degrees in public health in 2006 and in Buddhist studies in 2011 at HKU. In 2011, he completed a master degree in infectious diseases at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He was awarded fellowship of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine in the specialty of community medicine in 2013.
