Joaquín J. Torres graduated in theoretical physics in 1992 and received his Ph.D. in Theoretical and Computational Physics in 1997, both at Univ. of Granada. He was a postdoctoral researcher at the Inst. Nonlinear Sci. (U. California San Diego) (now within the Biocircuits Inst.) during the period 1997-1999. In 1999, he earned a research position in the department of Medical Physics and Biophysics at the Univ. of Nijmegen (The Netherlands). In 2000 he moved to the Univ. of Granada where he earned a research scientist position at the department of Electromagnetism and Physics of the Matter and in 2001 he was awared a "Ramón y Cajal" Grant from the Spanish Ministry of Research. In 2005, he became associate professor (tenured) at the same department after receiving from the Spanish Ministry of Research the I3 certification of an outstanding research career. Since 2017, he is Professor of Condensed Matter Physics at the Department of Electromagnetism and Physics of the Matter of the University of Granada.
