Craig Van Dyck is Executive Director of CLOCKSS, the long-term preservation and archiving service for scholarly literature. Previously he was Vice President, Operations, Content Management and Technology, at John Wiley. Craig started in publishing in 1978 at the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. From 1986-1996 he was with Springer-Verlag New York, starting as journal production manager, and ending as Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer. He joined Wiley in 1996. Craig served as Chairman of the Association of American Publishers Enabling Technologies Committee from 1995-1998, and was instrumental in the development of the Digital Object Identifier (DOI) system and of CrossRef. He represented Wiley on the Boards of Directors of the International DOI Foundation, CLOCKSS, ORCID, and CrossRef, and is a member of the Portico Advisory Committee, and has also served on the Board of the Society for Scholarly Publishing.
