Hernâni Gonçalves was born in Porto, Portugal, in 1979. He received the Licenciatura degree in Technology Applied Mathematics, the M.Sc. degree in Computational Methods in Science and Engineering, and the Ph.D. degree in Geomatics, from the University of Porto, Porto, Portugal, in 2002, 2004, and 2010, respectively. He worked as a researcher under the scope of a project in biomedical engineering, in the analysis of biomedical signals, from 2002 to 2005. During his Ph.D. (2006-2010), he worked in the automatic registration of satellite images, with a doctoral grant from the Portuguese Science and Technology Foundation (FCT), and between 2011-2017 worked at the Center for Health Technology and Services Research (CINTESIS) in linear/nonlinear analysis of biomedical signals, with a post-doctoral grant also from FCT. Currently he is an invited assistant professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto and the principal investigator of the Signal Processing Applications (SPA) research group at CINTESIS. His research interests include data analysis, biomedical signal analysis and image processing.
