Dr. Elisabete is a Chemical Engineer graduated by Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) in 2002. After her graduation, between 2003 and 2005, she worked in two research scholarships, granted project from Fundação para a Ciência e da Tecnologia (FCT), and in two chemical companies, UNITECA and PORTUCEL-SOPORCEL.
For her work, she received a distinction from the Engineering College of Portugal in 2004. In 2006 she started a Ph.D., granted by FCT, achieving her doctoral degree in 2009 by Instituto Superior Técnico (IST). After her Ph.D., she embarked on Post-Doctoral research at Institute for Bioengineering and Biosciences (IBB) in IST. Since 2013 she joined both Centro de Química e Bioquímica (CQB) in Faculdade de Ciências and Centro de Recursos Naturais e Ambiente (CERENA) in IST, UL.
As Post-Doctoral Researcher, has been actively involved as PI/Team member of national and international projects. Have also been training/supervising industrial technicians, MSc, Master and Ph.D. students.
She has contributed so far with 8 patents (4 international), 3 book chapters and 26 papers. And is currently the Guest editor of the special issue entitled Novel Marine Antifouling Coatings for the open access Journal Coatings (ISSN 2079-6412).
For her R&D contributions, received two recognitions (Young Researcher UTL/Deloitte Contest of 2010, and a distinction for the progress in engineering technologies by Advances in Engineering (https://advanceseng.com/about-advances-in-engineering/), 2013.
She is also a lecturer (Invited Professor) of:
- the Processos de Engenharia Química discipline, included in the curricular programme of the Integrated Master degree in Chemical Engineering course, 1st and 2nd cycles at Instituto Superior Técnico;
- the practical course of Chemistry (Biology) for the 1st semester of 2014/2015, included in the curricular programme of Biology, Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering courses, 1st cycle, Faculdade de Ciências, Universidade de Lisboa
