Dr Beatriz – born on July 12, 1967, Porto Murtinho, MS, Brazil – received his Bachelor’s degree in Technological Chemistry by the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (1995) and his Degree of Doctor of Science (DSc), field of Organic Chemistry from University of São Paulo – USP (2001). He was a Post-Doctoral fellow (FAPESP) at University of São Paulo (2001- 2002). He was Lecturer in Organic Chemistry at the Faculty Estacio de Sá (Campo Grande, MS, Brazil) from 2002 to 2006. In 2006 he was appointed Associate Professor of the Institute of Chemistry of the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (Campo Grande, MS, Brazil). He received a post-doctoral fellowship from Fundación Carolina (Spain) to work in the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain (Nov/2009-Feb/2010). Currently he is a visiting scholar in the group of Professor E. J. Corey at Harvard University, and working as an Associate Professor at Institute of Chemistry of the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul and research advisor in the Master and Doctoral degree programs in Chemistry, Pharmacy and Biotechnology. Experienced in organic synthesis, mainly in the following subjects: i) synthesis of resorcinolic lipids (cytosporones) and bioactive cage-like polycyclic compounds; ii) synthesis and evaluation of new antimicrobials; iii) chemical transformations of bioactive natural products, and iv) glycerol and cardanol exploitation. He has a Productivity Research Fellow from the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) since 2012, currently at level 2. He is the founder and inaugural editor-in-chief of journal Orbital: The Electronic Journal of Chemistry (www.orbital.ufms.br).
