Biography

Richard 'Rick' Camp is a Statistician at the Pacific Island Ecosystems Research Center, USGS,. He received his B.S. in Wildlife Management from the University of Minnesota in 1991 and his M.S. in Wildlife Biology from Colorado State University in 1995. He has published more than 40 journal articles, more than 30 technical reports, two book chapters, and contributed to six recovery plans. He has conducted field research on plants, birds, reptiles, mammals, and insects, as well as developed experimental and sampling design protocols, and statistical analyses. He has worked in subalpine, subarctic, desert, primary and secondary temperate and tropical forest, and island ecosystems of the western hemisphere, Australia and Pacific Ocean. His research primarily focuses on abundance and distribution monitoring across multiple scales, trends in populations, and spans topics including conservation ecology, wildlife biology, landscape ecology and analytical techniques. He is the Ecology Associate Editor for Northwest Science and a member of the American Ornithologists’ Union, the American Statistical Association, the Ecological Society of America, the Society for Conservation Biology, and The Wildlife Society.
