Lynda is a PhD researcher in the School of Arts and Humanities at Nottingham Trent University. The working project title for her PhD research is That's Not How It Should End: The Effect of Reader/Player Responses on the Development of Narrative.
This project explores how reader/player responses shape unfolding narratives and how the dialogue between reader/player and creator affects creative processes and products. Lynda is producing an interactive novel and a critical thesis exploring reader/player relationships in literature and games. As part of this project, she is also conducting research on the development of writers as characters in contemporary literature and games; and on similarities in writing process and reader/player responses between Victorian serial writers and modern games/interactive writing. Part of Lynda's project involves encouraging writers to utilise these processes to increase reader/player engagement.
