Dr. Leonardo Bianco de Carvalho earned his Ph.D. in Agronomy (Plant Production - Weed Science) from São Paulo State University, studying the effects of weed competition and herbicide drift on crops and also weed resistance to herbicides. His post-doctoral training focused on studying plant physiological and metabolic changes caused by the exposure to herbicides. In 2012, Dr. Carvalho became a faculty member of the Department of Agronomy at the Santa Catarina State University where he was Director of the Post-Graduate Program in Plant Production. In 2016, Dr. Carvalho moved into the São Paulo State University where he is currently an Associate Professor of Weed Science from the Department of Plant Protection of the School of Agricultural and Veterinay Sciences. In addition, Dr. Carvalho is being a member of the editorial board of peer-reviewed journals since 2011. The focus of Dr. Carvalho research is to study aspects of weed biology and ecology, weed interference, weed management and control, weed resistance, and impacts of herbicides on non-target organisms.
