Laura Ballerini graduated (MD) at the Florence School of Medicine, Università di Firenze, Italy in 1988. She was a Postdoctoral fellow (Physiology Department) at UCL (London, UK) from 1991 and later became assistant professor in Physiology at the Biophysics Sector of the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA-ISAS) of Trieste, Italy in 1995. In 2002 Laura Ballerini became associate professor of Physiology at the Life Science Department, Università di Trieste, Italy. From 2012 she became full professor of Physiology, at the Life Science Department, Università di Trieste, Italy. From October 2014 to January 2016 she has a joint appointment as full professor of physiology between the International School for Advanced Studies SISSA-ISAS of Trieste and the University of Trieste. Since January 2016 full professor of physiology at the International School for Advanced Studies SISSA-ISAS, Trieste, Italy.
Laura Ballerini has published more than 50 papers on international peer reviewed Journals, with a total of around 2600 citations and an h-index of 28 and i10-index of 41 (google scholar) or h-index 23 (Scopus). She has been invited to more than 40 conferences and workshops in the last 10 years as a keynote or symposium speaker or lectures in Universities or research centers.
