A.S. Coroadinha has a Degree in Biochemistry obtained in February 1999 by Faculdade de Ciencias da Universidade de Lisboa (FCUL). The PhD in Biochemical Engineering was completed in October 2005 and performed at Genethon (France), Helmholtz Center for Infectious Diseases (HZI) (Germany) and Instituto de Biologia Experimental e Tecnologica (IBET). The PhD degree was conceeded by the Instituto de Tecnologia Quimica e Biologica (ITQB), Universidade Nova de Lisboa (UNL), Portugal.
Since July 2009 is the Head of Cell Line Development and Molecular Biotechnology (Auxiliary Researcher at Laboratorio associado ITQB-UNL/IBET, Portugal) at Animal Cell Technology Unit. The major areas of scientific activity of the laboratory enclose molecular biology of mammalian Cells and Virology: research focus on the understanding on cell-virus interactions and development of virus based biopharmaceuticals for prophylactic or therapeutic purposes. This includes development of cell substrates for the manufacturing of complex biopharmaceuticals, engineering recombinant/synthetic virus, and developing enabling tools for virus research. Applications for Virology, Vaccines and Gene therapy.
