Pedro P. Lopez-Casas was born in 1970 in Madrid, Spain. He received his degree in Biological Sciences from the Universidad de Alcalá de Henares (UAH) in 1994. Subsequently, he obtained his Ph.D. in 2000 under the supervision of Professor Dr. Lucas Sánchez at the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology in the Centro de Investigaciones Biológicas (CIB) – Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Madrid, focusing on the reproductive genetics of Drosophila. The results were published in Experimental Cell Research (2001).
During his postdoctoral training, he was working on regulation of gene expression in mammalian male gametogenesis, at the Molecular Biology of Gametogenesis lab (CSIC), with Dr. Jesus del Mazo as mentor. Pedro P. Lopez-Casas signed as first author and co-author on important international journals and he has participated in many national and international meetings.
In 2006, he joined Dr. Manuel Hidalgo's team at the Research and Development Laboratory at the" Hospital de Madrid Norte Sanchinarro" turning his research focus on translational oncology. Since December 2006, he is an active member of the Clinical Research Ethical Committee of Grupo Hospital de Madrid.
In February 2009, Pedro P. Lopez-Casas joined Dr. Manuel Hidalgo's clinical research unit at the CNIO, as investigator. His main research focus is development of new therapeutic strategies in pancreatic cancer.
