Biography

Javier Melero is a postdoctoral researcher in the Modèles et Outils en ingénierie des Connaissances pour l’Apprentissage Humain (MOCAH) group at the Université Pierre et Marie Curie (UPMC), Paris (France). He is a Doctor in Information and Communication Technologies since April 2014 by the University Pompeu Fabra (UPF), where he obtained the cum laude grade. Javier Melero also received both his Engineering degree in Computer Science (2008) and his Master in Information, Communication and Audiovisual Media Technologies (2009) from the UPF, Barcelona, Spain. From 2006 to 2014, he has been collaborating with the Interactive Technolgies Group at UPF. Javier has been involved in several European, Spanish and French R&D projects in the field of Technology-Enhanced Learning. In particular, his main role has been especially focused in the research of topics in game-based learning. Specifically, Javier has special interest in how technology-support the design and creation of gamified and mobile learning applications to support indoor and outdoor situated activities. Considering this context, he has also been leading several pilots and experiments performed in real educational contexts (schools and universities). Besides, Javier has been involved in writing diverse reports and deliverables, and participating in project meetings and reviews. Additionally, Javier has six years of teaching experience in subject topics as programming fundamentals, software engineering or infomation and communication technologies. Furthermore, he has been the supervisor of several Final Project Degrees about designing technology-supported puzzle-based games.
