Biography

Joël Ankri is Professor of Public Health at the Ile de France-Ouest Medical Faculty in Versailles-St Quentin University (UVSQ). Prof Ankri has completed his medical studies at Paris University specializing in statistical methodology applied to clinical research and to epidemiology and in pharmacokinetics and clinical trials methodology. He is now the head of the Center of Gerontology of Ste Périne Hospital and the director of the Research Unit (EA2506) « Health, Environment and Aging ». He is also an expert of the French agency for evaluation of medicinal products (AFSSAPS) and the European agency (EMEA). His researches include the study of disabilities and dependency of French elders (particularly of elders suffering from dementia) and epidemiological aspects of health conditions’ consequences of elderly and the answers of the health and social system. He has been also main investigator in multicentric phase III clinical trials in Alzheimer’s disease. He is a member of the French Geriatrics and Gerontology Society’s scientific committee and fellow of the international scientific network InterRAI. He chairs the scientific committee of the federation of Gerontological Networks of Ile de France Region. He is the director of the master “methodology of public health interventions” (UVSQ). He is a member of the editorial board of the “Gerontologie & Societé” journal. He has published numerous scientific peer review articles and book chapters. The French minister of health, the minister of research and the minister of old persons have given to him the mission to evaluate the French national plan on Alzheimer disease.
