I am an Assistant Professor at the Department of Transportation Infrastructures and Planning of the Technical University of Catalonia (Civil Engineering School, UPC-BarcelonaTech). Occasionally I also collaborate with the Center for Innovation in Transport (CENIT). My current research interests include traffic analysis and management, the improvement of urban mobility and the optimization of transportation operations.
I hold a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from UPC–BarcelonaTech, and postgraduate diplomas in Management of Port Operations, Public Works Management and Private Management of Infrastructures. My PhD thesis entitled “Highway Travel Time Estimation with Data Fusion”, was awarded with the VIII Abertis Research Prize in Management of Transportation Infrastructures (2010). My research activities have been complemented by two visiting scholar appointments at the University of California at Berkeley (USA), hosted by Prof. Carlos Daganzo and Prof. Michael Cassidy (2007, 2012). My research papers have been published in the most prestigious journals in the field, such as Transportation Research Part B and Part C, Transportmetrica and IEEE Transactions on ITS, among others. This includes one citation in the TOP25 list of most downloaded papers in its category (rank #11), and the Young Researcher Award for the best paper presented by a researcher under 35 (Transport Engineering Conference – CIT 2012, Granada).
