Full professor of Cardiology of the School of Medicine, Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre, Brazil. Training abroad (post-doctoral and sabbatical): UNC-Chapel Hill (1986-87), Johns Hopkins (1996-97) and Harvard/Brigham (2013). Fellow of the American Heart Association. Current positions: Chief of Cardiology, Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre, Researcher CNPq 1A (Brazilian Agency of Research). Editorial Board: Hypertension (past), Journal of Hypertension and others; reviewer for more than 30 international journals (mostly devoted to hypertension and CV disease). Eleven textbooks in hypertension, Cardiology, and Clinical Pharmacology, and more than 300 full articles published. More than 4000 citations and a H index of 35 in ISI and more than 9000 citations and H index of 51 in Google Scholar.
