Oğuz Reşat Sipahi is a medical doctor, infectious diseases and clinical microbiology specialist and professor of infectious diseases in Ege University, Faculty of Medicine.
His main interests in infectious diseases are meningitis, central nervous system infections, brain abscess, spondylodiscitis, bone-joint-prosthetic infections, neutropenic fever, brucellosis, tuberculosis, multidrug resistant hospital-acquired infections, hospital infection prevention, multidrug resistant urinary tract infections, sepsis-septic shock, fever of unknown, influenza-flu, bibliometrics, HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis (HBV, HCV) and he has several publications in all of these subjects
Oğuz Reşat Sipahi is one of the founder members of Turkish Society of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology Specialists (EKMUD). He served in the executive committee of EKMUD between May-2010 and May 2012 and May 2014-May 2016. He is also actively serving in the executive committee of European Study Group for Infectious Diseases of Brain as general secretary since 2013 May. He is one of the authors of the European meningitis guidelines.
He has more than 120 papers published in peer review journals (More than 70 published in international scientific journals). His papers received >1000 citations in several textbooks, books and papers. He has H index of 14 in Web of Science and 21 in google scholar.
Oguz Resat Sipahi is also the Editor in Chief of Mediterranean Journal of Infection Microbes and Antimicrobials since November 2015. He is in the editorial board of Biomed Research International and Case Reports in Infectious Diseases. As well he has served as reviewer for many International Journals such as Clinical Infectious Diseases, Drugs and Vaccine.
