Nelson S. Yee, M.D., Ph.D., F.A.C.P., R.Ph., is the Leader of Gastrointestinal Oncology Disease Team at the Penn State Cancer Institute, Hershey, Pennsylvania, United States of America. He is an attending and consultant medical oncologist who specializes in treating patients with cancers of pancreas, liver, biliary tract, esophagus, stomach, colon, rectum, and anus, as well as other malignant diseases of digestive organs. He is the principal investigator of multiple clinical studies that focus on developing new therapies, predictive biomarkers, and therapeutic targets in gastrointestinal oncology. Dr. Yee directed the Laboratory of Pancreatic Development and Cancer, with a research focus on the developmental biology and genetics of exocrine pancreas in the zebrafish and translating the developmental regulators into cancer biomarkers and therapeutic targets in human pancreatic adenocarcinoma. He serves as the Academic Editor of Disease Markers, Regional Editor of Clinical Cancer Drugs, Section Editor of Applied Clinical Research, Clinical Trials and Regulatory Affairs, Associate Editor of Molecular & Cellular Oncology, Review Editor of Frontiers in Oncology, Review Editor of Frontiers in Pharmacology, Editorial Board Member of World Journal of Gastroenterology, Editorial Member of World Journal of Clinical Oncology, and Editorial Board Member of World Journal of Hematology. Dr. Yee is a Guest Editor of Current Clinical Pharmacology, Cancer Growth and Metastasis, Clinical Cancer Drugs, and Biomedicines. He has published original research articles, reviews, case reports, commentaries, and book chapters, and he presented at research conferences in China, Hong Kong, Macao, Germany, and America. Dr. Yee received undergraduate education majoring in pharmacy and chemistry at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in Boston, Mass, USA. He then pursued medical education and graduate training at the Cornell University Medical College and the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan, NY, USA. At the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Dr. Yee underwent postgraduate clinical training in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology. He was an Instructor in medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and then appointed as Assistant Professor of medicine at the University of Iowa. Currently, Dr. Yee is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, where he is the Course Director of the Clinical Elective in Medical Oncology, Clinical Elective in Hematology, and Acting Internship in Hematology-Oncology.
