I am Assistant Professor Professor at the Chemical Engineering Department of the Faculty of Engineering of Porto (FEUP) and researcher at LEPABE (Laboratory for Process Engineering, Environment, Biotechnology and Energy). Since 2014 I'm member of the Department Council and member of the Department Executive Commitee of the Chemical Engineering Department. From 2009 until 2014 I also was Pro-Director for Human Ressources at FEUP.
My actual research has been focused on the following topics:
Study of methodologies for the degradation/removal of persistent pollutants and pharmaceutical compounds in the environment, as well as of emergent compounds (PPCPs);
- Studies of microencapsulation and controlled release (food and cosmetics).
- Molecularly Imprinted Polymers for the analysis in Food Products;
- Methodologies of extraction/pre-concentration as well the study of derivatization reactions for analytical detection (GC/MS and HPLC/fluorescence) ;
- Structural analysis of compounds (FTIR, RMN and MS), more specifically to study potential degradation products of pollutants.
