I am a lecturer and researcher in physical geography, Earth observation and GIS in the DCU School of History & Geography. I previously held a Marie Curie Fellowship and two EPA postdoctoral Fellowships. I have coordinated several projects including a Horizon 2020 proposal and a Google Earth Engine funded research project. I am also one of the Irish representatives on the management committee of COST Action ES1309 and involved in COST Action TD1403.
My research interests lie at the interface between earth science and earth observation. I focus on the interaction between the atmosphere and terrestrial ecosystems, particularly peatlands, in Temperate, Boreal and Arctic regions. I use geoinformatics and EO Big Data to aid and refine our understanding of carbon dynamics across the Arctic and the effect of human and natural disturbance on natural ecosystems.
