Marcelo Correia graduated in Biomedicine and Experimental Biology at the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology (CNC) from University of Coimbra in 2016. During his PhD, supervised by Prof João Ramalho-Santos, M Correia studied 1) the impact of the natural antioxidant compound kaempferol and 2) the importance of Sirtuins in embryonic stem cells and their metabolism. During his PhD studies, M Coreia published 9 articles (8 Q1 and 1 Q3)
Before, Marcelo Correia concluded his Master's degree (18/20) in Cellular and Molecular Biology in the University of Coimbra. He performed his thesis in IPATIMUP under supervision of Prof Valdemar Máximo. He studied the role of the tumor supressor GRIM-19 in human thyroid and kidney tumors, with a particular emphasis in oncocytic tumor histotypes. He was included in one article (Q1).
M Correia is currently interested in mitochondrial biology and metabolism of metabolic syndromes.
