I am a Lecturer at Universidade Lusíada Porto and Research Consultant and Tutor at DiploFoundation. I hold a PhD from the Interpol Department of Aberystwyth University and a Masters and Undergraduate from ISCSP of the University of Lisbon. My current research focuses on the connection between international relations theory and area studies dedicated to the southeast asian region. More specifically, I am interested in the analysis of the development and influence of 'standards of civilisation' in the constitution of more or less cosmopolitan orientations in the relations between states, between members of different political communities and between these and non-human nature. I integrate an international research network, in the context of which I am an integrated researcher of the Orient Institute from the University of Lisbon, Portugal, an editor of the Group on Civilising Processes from the University of Londrina, Brasil, and a colaborator researcher of Centre for Public Policy and Administration from the University of Lisbon, Portugal, the Norbert Elias Foundation, Holland, and the BISA working group 'IR as a Social Science', United Kingdom.
