Alison obtained her BSc (Hons) in Chemistry from the University of Dundee in 1999 and her DPhil from the University of Oxford in 2003. Prior to joining the Medway School of Pharmacy in 2006, she held a postdoctoral position at Imperial College London. Her early research focused on the synthesis and conformational study of sugar derived peptidomimetics (commonly known as sugar amino acids). She teaches a range of topics including 'Carbohydrates as drugs'; spectroscopy; organic, physical and general chemistry. She has recently been involved in a COST action on Foldamers and an Interreg network on peptides (Peptide Research Network of Excellence, PeReNE).
