I'm currently working as a Semantic Web Researcher for an Innovate UK project that the University of Southampton is collaborating on and have recently been appointed the Enterprise Network Coordinator of the Science AI Network (AI3SD www.ai3sd.org). I have recently been awarded my PhD in Computer Science and Chemistry at the University of Southampton. My PhD Topic was investigating how to bring the modern power of the web to chemical research, with a specific focus on semantic electronic lab notebooks. I am passionate about research, and alongside my job positions I am also working on some side projects to further my PhD research, and a project called Talk2Lab looking at using IoT devices in the laboratory environment.
Before starting my PhD I completed my undergraduate degree in Computer Science at the University of Southampton, and then worked for BAE Systems Detica for just over a year. Alongside my PhD I demonstrate for various computer science modules at the university, and my responsibilities include helping out in programming labs, marking coursework and mentoring students in various projects. When I'm not working I'm usually doing various aerial sports classes!
