Rui Vilela Mendes, received an Electrical Engineering degree from the Technical University (IST)- Lisbon, a Ph. D. in Physics from the University of Texas (Austin) and an Habilitation in Mathematics from the University of Lisbon. I am currently a researcher at the Center for Mathematics and Applications (CMAF-UL) and collaborator of UECE-ISEG (School of Economics and Management - Technical University of Lisbon) and the Institute for Plasmas and Nuclear Fusion (IPFN-IST) as well as a member of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences. Was a visiting researcher and professor at CERN, CNRS (Marseille), IHES (Bures), Univ. of Bielefeld and co-organizer and collaborator of several international research projects on Applied Mathematics, Physics and the Sciences of Complexity.
Over the last few decades have worked in the areas of applied mathematics, mathematical economics, nonlinear dynamics and control, stochastic processes and quantum theory. The current research interests center on applied mathematics, mathematical economics and the dynamics of complex systems,
