Born in Kyiv, Ukraine. Graduated from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv with M.A. in English and German, PhD in English Linguistics. Olga Ilchenko is professor and foreign languages head at the Research and Educational Center for Foreign Languages, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, where she does linguistics research and teaches English to PhD candidates. She was the recipient of Fulbright Junior Faculty Development Program Fellowship, USA (1998-1999), grantee of IREX (International Research and Exchanges Board) Summer School, USA (1994.) She was also a World Bank interpreter.
