Recently (2010-2013): invited researcher both at the National Research Council of Lebanon and American University of Beirut (AUB) in a collaborative agreement since 1/9/2010.
Domains of research : analysis of science, technology and innovation policy in developing countries; innovation, technological development and technological learning in firms; research and innovation (or science and technology); sociology of science and scientific institutions in the developing world (see “cloud” representation of keywords based on a complete CV, below)
Mission: To engage in collaborative work on social studies of science and technology, including policy analysis and innovation, with colleagues from developing countries. Partnerships are the main objective of these academic ventures. Participation to capacity building in developing countries and training of future teams and researchers on these topics.
Education: Graduated in Economics from Paris-I University (Panthéon-Sorbonne) , I hold a doctorate in Sociology (1990) from Paris-7 University (Jussieu). My doctoral thesis was on the social roles of applied research in Venezuela and the relations between academia and the productive sector. It has been published as a book in Spanish (Caracas).
Research projects: I have developed work programmes on the evaluation of research, the links between research and production, the rise of scientific communities in the developing world, the international collaborations in science, the definition of technological learning and innovation, the innovation policy instruments.
I worked in France, Venezuela, Mexico, China and the Arab Mediterranean countries (18 years perma-nently outside Europe). I have teaching experience in all these countries. Latest course on “the social production of knowledge” (American university of Beirut).
