Filipe Santana da Silva

PhD (2016) and MSc (2012) in Computer Science by the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco/Centro de Informática (CIn / UFPE). He graduated in Biological Sciences (2009) from the Universidade de Pernambuco/Instituto de Ciências Biológicas (ICB / UPE) and started his career studying polymorphisms in genes associated with folic acid metabolism in patients with chronic hepatitis C and hepatic steatosis. For being specialized (during graduation) in infectious and parasitic diseases, he entered the master's program to perform research with knowledge representation (i.e., ontologies) and the processing health-related data. At that time, he worked at the Núcleo de Telessaúde (NUTES-HC-UFPE), developing research on knowledge representation, telehealth and standards for health information systems. In his Ph.D., he developed research related to the intelligent processing of biomedical databases, specifically automatic interpretation using a hybrid model based on ontologies and Knowledge Intensive Case-based Reasoning (KI-CBR). During his PhD, he performed sandwich internship (2014-2015) at the Medzinische Universität Graz (Institut für Medizinische Informatik, Statistik und Dokumentation), Austria. Research interest: Medical informatics, Biomedical databases, Knowledge representation, Ontologies, Ontology-based database content interpretation, Data analysis and Public health
