Hélio Magalhães de Oliveira was born in Brazil, in 1959. He received both the E.E. and M.S.E.E. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE), Recife, Pernambuco, in 1980 and 1983, respectively. Then he joined the staff of the Department Electronics and Systems (DES-UFPE 1983-2014) at the same university as a lecturer. In 1992 he earned the Docteur de l'Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications degree, in Paris. He is with Statistics Department of UFPE since 2015. Dr. De Oliveira was appointed as honoured professor by forty-nine electrical (or computer) engineering undergraduate classes and chosen as the godfather of sixteen engineering graduation. Research current interests include: applied statistics, information theory, mathematical music, signal analysis, wavelet theory, audio, genomic signal processing, communications theory.
