I have permanent position as Professor at University of Belgrade, Faculty of Biology and as Principal Research Fellow with Institute for Biological Research. I obtained BSci, MSci and PhD in Biology from the University of Belgrade, had professional one year training at University of Edinburgh, Department of Zoology in 1988/89 and two years of postdoctoral appointment with University of Arizona, Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology in 1992-1994.
My main research model is Drosophila and main interests are population and ecological genetic aspects of stress, genetic changes at population level under environmental and genomic stress conditions, monitoring of population-genetic parameters affected by stress in natural populations, in areas polluted or fragmented to various degree.
Currently I chair Genetic&Evolution and PhD studies in Genetics and I am teaching several courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels: Genetics, Developmental genetics, Population Genetics, Conservation Genetics, Forensic genetics, Bioethics. I mentored numerous PhD and Msci thesis in populations genetics.
I have been participated in 2 international and 8 national scientific projects, to date, and was deputy coordinator of international Tempus project related to higher education reform in biological sciences.
I am a member of The Genetics Society (UK), European Environmental Mutagen Society; Genetic Society of Serbia (presidential board), have been a member of steering Committees within University and relevant Ministries, and member of Natl. Board for Biosafety at Ministry of Agriculture
