Verónica de Zea Bermudez (born 1962) obtained a first degree in Chemical Engineering in 1985 and a MSc degree in Chemistry of Catalytic Processes in 1988 at the Instituto Superior Técnico (Lisbon, Portugal).
During 1989 she worked in the poly(urethane) industry.
She received a PhD degree in Electrochemistry in 1992 from the Institut Polytechnique de Grenoble (Grenoble, France).
In 1993 she joined the Department of Chemistry of the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (Vila Real, Portugal), where she is Full Professor of Materials Chemistry.
Elected member of the Board of Directors of the International Sol-Gel Society in August 2017.
