Graduated from Medical School at Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1994); medical residency in Internal Medicine (1995-1997) and fellowship in Rheumatology at Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre (HCPA; 1998-1999); obtained master's (2003) and PhD (2006) in 'Medicine: Medical Sciences'. He is currently practicing in the Rheumatology Service of Grupo Hospitalar Conceição (GHC). He worked as professor of Clinical Pharmacology at the Faculty of Dentistry, ULBRA (Lutheran University of Brazil) - Canoas from 1997 to 2005. He has 55 scientific articles published in medical journals, of which 42 are indexed in PubMed/Medline. He founded and supervises the Residency Program in Rheumatology of the GHC. In October 2013, received the Award "Luiz Felipe Cunha Mattos" (first place) for the work "Low- versus high-dose rituximab for rheumatoid arthritis: a systematic review and meta-analysis". The uptaded version of this study was presented orally at the EULAR (European League Against Rheumatism) 2015 Congress in June 11, 2015 (session 'Developments in the treatment of RA'), in Rome (Italy). In 2017, presented orally the study "Effect of xanthine oxidase inhibitors on the incidence of cardiovascular events: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials" at the EULAR Congress in Madrid (Spain).
