Biography

<Biographic note in English> Full Professor of English Studies at the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences (NOVA FCSH), NOVA University of Lisbon, Portugal; currently, he is a member of its Scientific Council. He is the head of the Institute of Languages of the New University of Lisbon (ILNOVA), which he founded in 2006. Recent teaching subjects include: Contemporary English Literature, Literary Theory, Methodology for Scientific Research, Literature Teaching and Foreign Languages Didactics. He coordinates Pre-Service Teacher Education at NOVA FCSH, where he has founded several courses in this area. He leads the research group Teacher Education and Applied Language Studies (TEALS), at the Centre for English, Translation and Anglo-Portuguese Studies (CETAPS), which he coordinates as well since 2014. He founded a PhD in Languages Didactics, which is offered in assocation with the Portuguese Open University. He also teaches and co-coordinates the PhD in Education, also an association between NOVA FCSH, NOVA FCT and ISPA. He founded and is editor of the e-journal E-Teals: an e-journal of Teacher Education and Applied Language Studies (since 2008). His main research project if the E-Dictionary of Literary Terms , in Portuguese, which intends to gather a wide-ranging and an all-inclusive database of technical terms in use in literary studies, literary criticism, academic texts related to literature, and in the specific bibliographies of literary and cultural studies. The EDTL has more than 1700 entries , has received collaboration from more than 180 scholars from Portugal and Brazil, and registers (since 2005) more than 16 millions visits.
