Anthony Kinloch



Professor Tony Kinloch, FREng FRS, holds a personal chair as ‘Professor of Adhesion’ and was the ‘Head of Department’ of Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London. He has published over two hundred and forty patents and refereed papers in the areas of adhesion and adhesives, toughened polymers and the fracture of polymers and fibre-composites; and written and edited seven books in these areas. He has been awarded the ‘Armourer’s and Braziers Prize for Materials Science’ from The Royal Society, the Le Prix Dédale de la Sociéte Française d’Adhesion, the ‘Hawksley Gold Medal’ of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, the ‘Griffith Medal and Prize’ and ‘Wake Medal’ of the Institute of Materials, the Adhesion Society of Japan Award for “Distinguished Contributions to the Development of Adhesion Science and Technology’ and the US Adhesion Society Award for ‘Outstanding Excellence in Adhesion Research’. In 1997 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and in 2007 was elected to the Fellowship of The Royal Society.
