Henrique Vaz is Assistant Professor at the FPCEUP, where he chairs the Faculty Pedagogical Board. He is also the Director of the Master degree in Visual Arts Teachers’ Education, and teaches in the Doctoral Programme in Artistic Education. He is a member of CIIE. He took his Doctoral thesis in 2007 at the University of Porto writing his PhD thesis on the work in a professional arts' school, specially focused on theatre. In a national, competitive call for theses publishing, his proposal was successful, and thus his thesis was published by the FCT and the Gulbenkian Foundation – PROJECTO ZERO: A Escola no Teatro. Significado da instância Trabalho Numa Escola Profissional Artística: Estudo de Caso [Project Zero: The School in the Theatre. Meanings of Work in a Professional Arts' School: A Case Study]. His research interests include: linkages and intersections in training and work, namely at the arts field; training on educational institutions; experience in formal learning settings; academic migration; diversities and citizenship; research methodologies. He is currently engaged in an EU-funded project (“CATCH-EyoU – Constructing AcTive CitizensHip with European Youth”, H2020, 2015-2018). He has been supervising master dissertations and Ph.D theses in visual arts teaching, arts education and education through the art.
