Harshinie Karunarathna

Harshinie Karunarathna is a professor in coastal and estuary engineering in the Zienkiewicz Centre for Computational Engineering (ZCCE) of the College of Engineering at Swansea University. Prior to joining Swansea, I was a lecturer at the School of Engineering of the University of Glasgow and led the coastal engineering and climate change research group. She obtained a BSc degree from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, MSc degree in River Coastal and Estuary Engineering from Imperial College, London and a PhD in Coastal Engineering from Saitama University, Japan. She has published more than 120 research articles in coastal engineering and have secured research grants from UKRI, Royal Society, Royal Academy and numerous other funding bodies. Her main research interests are: - Computational modelling of coastal and estuarine dynamics - Impacts of global climate change on the coastal environment - Impacts of extreme weathers on coastal areas - Coastal flood risk - Environmental impacts of marine renewables - Ecological influence on coastal morphology
