Dr. Carles Fernández-Prades received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. (cum-laude) in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) in 2001 and 2006, respectively. During the pursuit of his PhD, he was recipient of a 2001-2004 PhD scholarship granted by the Spanish Ministry of Education. In 2001, he joined the Department of Signal Theory and Communication at UPC as a research assistant, getting involved in European and National research projects both with technical and managerial duties. He also was Teaching Assistant in the field of Analog and Digital Communications (UPC 2001-2005).
In 2006 he joined the Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC), where he currently holds a position as a Senior Researcher and serves as the Head of the Communication Systems Division. During the second semester of 2007 he was a Visiting Lecturer at Universidad Tecnológica Metropolitana (UTEM), Santiago, Chile. His primary areas of interest include Bayesian estimation, array signal processing, GNSS synchronization, digital communications and design of RF front-ends, authoring more than 80 papers in international, peer-reviewed journals and conferences, several book chapters and public research reports.
