Professionally, Elvira Vieira has a diverse experience in management in several companies and as a teacher, which gives her a diverse and versatile know-how, enabling the establishment of an important link between the academic universe, in a theoretical context, and the real world, in a practical context.
The first professional experiences took place in a business environment, assuming several management positions, particularly at the financial, human resources and marketing level.
With the beginning of the Master in International Sectoral Economics at the Santiago de Compostela University, her career suffers a change, working as a trainer and teacher, initially in high education and then in the superior education after finishing her Ph.D. in 2007. With this milestone in her career, she started teaching at the Portuguese Institute of Marketing Management (IPAM), where she was chosen to be a member of the Scientific Council and representative of the President in the Pedagogical Council. Also advise several Master Theses.
In 2009 starts to work as a full time Professor at the Superior Institute of Administration and Management (ISAG) – Porto, where she actually plays the roles of member of the Scientific and Technical Council, coordinator of economics scientific area and scientific coordinator of the research center (NIDISAG) and member of the Direction Council with the position of General Director. At the same time began to teach Master and Bachelor disciplines at the Minho University (UM) and at the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo (IPVC).
Her performance in these Institutions and the research activity that she kept parallel, gives her, in 2009, the 1st prize for research of the “Catedra da Euroregión Galicia – Norte de Portugal", which motivated in 2010 the invitation to take position of President / Director of the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation Galicia – North of Portugal (GNP-EGTC) until 2012, where she developed several projects and cooperation initiatives between the two regions. In addition to the functions that currently plays in ISAG, Elvira Vieira is also teaching at IPVC, and developing research projects in several fields (Human Capital, Social Capital, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Regional Development, among others) which have motivated scientific publications and the participation in National and International Conferences. Moreover, she continues to guide Masters and PhD theses.
