My research focus is the integration of biofluid mechanics with the development of medical devices. One of the several applications centers on the development of implantable devices to be used in areas of cardiovascular circulation and interventional cardiology. My research interests also include the fluid mechanical assessment of cardiovascular devices and therapeutics interventions, and the study of the hemodynamics origin of various cardiovascular diseases. At present, I am designing and developing novel heart valve prosthesis and vascular stents for percutaneous implantation.
My other research interests and expertise center on the design and development of bioreactors and novel in vitro system for drug screening and toxicological testing. These works involve the use of computational fluid dynamics simulations and experimental setups for the characterization and optimization of the cell culturing systems.
