My research is focused on defining the mechanisms of effective T cell immunity against HIV and other pathogens in lymphoid tissues and blood. We are using cutting-edge techniques including flow cytometry, targeted gene-expression analysis, RNA sequencing and more to conduct detailed studies of T cell transcriptional programming at the single-cell level in rare clinical samples. This is a highly collaborative project, with a wealth of samples originating from many laboratories in North America, Africa, and Europe. With this approach, we aim to provide key insights into the control of HIV infection and guide the field towards the rationale design of effective vaccines or curative agents against HIV and other infections.
