Biography
Background
Aldo is a Reader in Law at City, University of London. He was previously the Director of Centre for Access to Justice and Inclusion at Anglia Ruskin University. He served as First Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malta during the country’s accession to the European Union. He then joined the Commonwealth Secretariat as Legal Editor of the Commonwealth Law Bulletin. In 2013/14, he was Research Associate, based at King’s College London, on a EU FP7-funded project entitled ‘Securing Europe Through Counter-Terrorism: Impact, Legitimacy and Effectiveness.’
Aldo obtained his PhD from Trinity College Dublin, with a dissertation on the use of external precedent in international criminal adjudication. He holds a Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Malta and a Master of Economic Science in European Economic and Public Affairs from University College Dublin. He is an Advocate of the Courts of Malta and a Solicitor in England and Wales (non-practicing). He is a Fellow of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
