Anusuriya Devaraju is a postdoctoral fellow in the Geoscience Analytical Platforms of the Mineral Resources Flagship. Before joining CSIRO she was a researcher at Forschungszentrum Jülich where she was involved in the data management of the Terrestrial Environmental Observatories (TERENO) initiative in Germany. She received her PhD in Geoinformatics from the University of Münster in April 2012. Her PhD research focused on the development of a formal model to infer information about geographic events from sensor data. It was funded through the International Research Training Group on Semantic Integration of Geospatial Information by the German Research Foundation. She is a certified Malaysian Information Technology Professional and has worked as a lecturer in ICT at the Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka for several years. Her research interests are in semantic interoperability and environmental data integration, with particular focus on the modelling of data provenance and quality control using open standards. She also has considerable practical experience in data management, Web Service technologies and Semantic Web. When she is not at work, she enjoys experimenting in the kitchen, dancing and exploring new cultures.
