Postdoc 1997-2000 Immunology, Hematopoiesis Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP), Vienna, Austria Postdoc 2000-2005 Cancer Research and Signaling Pathways Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Cancer Research (LBI-CR), Vienna, Austria Director 2005 ongoing Cancer Research and Cytokine Signaling University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna, Austria Medical University Vienna, Vienna, Austria Professor 2014 ongoing Functional Cancer Genomics Core Cancer Pathways A. Personal Statement and Research Focus on JAK-STAT and Cancer Mouse Models The JAK-STAT pathway is a central core cancer pathway that can drive other essential core cancer pathways such as survival, cell cycle progression, PI3K-AKT-mTOR signalling, attachment/invasion or angiogenesis. Furthermore, we study through comparative pathology studies using innovative cancer mouse models and patient sample analysis Ewing sarcoma and other solid or hematopoietic cancer. Furthermore, we explore targeted inhibition in mice and patients together with several international collaboration partners. Here, we moved also into lead structure development and targeting of transcription factors is a lab focus. We assembled a comprehensive set of test systems for cancer models. We filed necessary ethical animal or patient sample work approval licences with Austrian government authorities to exploit translational cancer research and comparative medicine questions. Our long term mission is to molecularly explore cancer models and to come up with new therapies through our work with xenograft or transgenic mouse models, always spiked with patient findings to perform a reality check to work closely with human disease relevance. Voluntary reviewer for international journals as listed also since 2017 via Publons and evaluator for many international research organisations or involved in grant peer reviewer panels. B.
