Biography

- A materials scientist who is passionate about settling disputing physical exotic phenomena. My journey has been enriched by a diverse cultural and educational background, spanning Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Germany, Singapore, and now France. I have been awarded two prestigious scholarships during my academic journey, namely, Erasmus Mundus (MSc) and Singapore International Graduate Award (PhD), reflecting my academic dedication.

- My research interests lie broadly in fundamentally studying materials physics, particularly, in epitaxial complex-oxide thin films. The word “epitaxial” refers to the single crystalline thin films in which I have a deep experience on using pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique to grow such high quality films.

- I have been working on better understanding of the physics of the holy grail of multiferroics, or BiFeO3. BiFeO3 possesses 3 different room-temperature aspects, namely ferroelectricity, ferroelasticity and noncollinear antiferromagnetism, which makes it a potential material system for different applications specially for next generation ferroelectric and spintronic devices for data processing and storage as already manifested by Intel.

- My journey with Bismuth ferrite started during my time as PhD student when I was studying the light/ferroelectric order interaction in BiFeO3. Ultimately, I was able to solve the heated debate of the PV mechanism in BFO films.

- During my MSc thesis time at the Technical University of Munich, I gained a considerable experience on the synchrotron usage, a large scale facility that is employed to probe materials properties.

- Last but not least, nothing more joy in my life than teaching. I have TAed, tutored and taught physics classes in Egypt and Singapore.
