Mikael Svensson earned his PhD in Economics from Örebro University (Sweden) in 2007 and he was also a participant in the International PhD Program in Health Economics & Policy at the Swiss School of Public Health.
After earning his PhD Dr. Svensson has been a Visiting Assistant Professor in Health Economics at Karlstad University (Sweden), an Associate Professor of Economics at Karlstad and Örebro University,a Visiting Researcher at Toulouse School of Economics (France) and at the Centre for Health Economics at the University of York.
Currently he holds a position as full Professor of Applied Health Economics at the Health Metrics Unit (the Sahlgrenska Academy) at the University of Gothenburg.
Dr. Svensson has mainly taught and published in the area of health economics and policy. Publications in international journals include outlets such as the Journal of Health Economics, Health Economics, Journal of Risk and Uncertainty, European Journal of Health Economics, Economics of Education Review, Journal of Population Economics, Environmental and Resource Economics, European Journal of Neurology etc.
