Dr. Ashraf M. Salama is academic, scholar, and Chair Professor in architecture. He is Professor of Architecture and Head of the Department of Architecture at the University of Strathclyde Glasgow, UK. He was the Founding Head of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning at Qatar University. He has held permanent, tenured, and visiting positions in Egypt (Misr International University and Al-Azhar University), Italy (University of Naples_Federico II), Saudi Arabia (King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals), and the United Kingdom (Queen's University Belfast). He has published over 150 articles in archival journals and the international refereed press, and authored and co-edited seven books. He is the chief editor of Archnet-IJAR: International Journal of Architectural Research, collaborating editor of Open House International-OHI, editorial board member of International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health-IJERPH, International of Journal of Sustainable Built Environment, International Journal of Islamic Architecture, International Journal of Sustainable Tropical Design Research and Practice, member of the senior advisory board of LONAARD-London Art and Architecture Research and Design Group, and editorial board member of Architects for Peace. He is also a regular reviewer of other several international journals including Fabrications, Journal of Architectural Education, and Journal of Design Research. Professor Salama serves on the scientific and review boards of international organizations including IAPS, IAHH, and cE-Bs.
