Rupert Ward, a Higher Education Academy National Teaching Fellow, is responsible for teaching and learning strategy within the School of Computing and Engineering. He co-authored the University’s highly successful assessment and feedback strategy and its latest teaching and learning strategy, and has been part of teams recognised nationally for assessment and feedback (Highly Commended, ICT Innovation of the Year, THE Leadership & Management Awards), student experience (National Acquisitions Group Award for Excellence and Guardian Award for Student Experience), employability (THE Entrepreneurial University of the Year), customer service excellence and enterprise. He has also been recognised by the Higher Education Academy for his strategic impact, wider commitment to academic practice and enhancement of the student experience as one of its first Principal Fellows.
He is currently completing his sixth postgraduate qualification and has research interests in physics, computing, technology enhanced learning (especially international higher education development), quality enhancement and the student experience. He is a board member of the Council for Professors and Heads of Computing, and is a Fellow of the British Computer Society, a Chartered IT Professional and a Chartered Physicist.
